Typical Venetian cuisine is based on fish dishes but they also have magnificent rice and polenta recipes. 
In Venice it is traditional to eat marinated sardines, eel, “cicchetti” (similar to Spanish tapas), cakes such as "pan del pescatore", biscuits made with Burano butter called “bussolai”, and other sweets made from almonds.

In the Restaurante Da Raffaele you can enjoy typical dishes from Venice and the Veneto region. Worth a mention are the fish and seafood dishes. Particularly enjoyable, apart from its superb menu, is the lovely terrace located on the Bridge delle Ostreghe which enables you to experience the wonderful sensation of eating on the Grand Canal and enjoy the most authentic Venetian atmosphere with its serenades at night. The restaurant also has a cosy interior; the walls with apparent brickwork and the fireplace give it a special touch. The décor is thoughtful and includes a collection of ancient objects. This restaurant is located on the island of Vignole, popularly known as the Garden of the Serenissima. In this restaurant you can enjoy unparalleled sunsets with the Venice lagoon in the background. The restaurant has been recently renovated, but without losing its family touch. Enjoy the typical Venetian dishes prepared by the Vianello family.
To get there, take a vaporetto at the “Fondamenta Nuove” stop and head for the Vignole Island. The restaurant can organise transport for groups, both ways.

The Scroccaro family has run la “Trattoria da Ignazio” since 1951. The restaurant is situated in a narrow street in Venice, between the Basílica de los Frailes and la Casa de Goldoni, and has its own garden. We recommend the fish and rice specialities. Other dishes worth trying are noodles with crab from the lagoon, crayfish with artichokes or asparagus, polenta, fried fish, sea bass and baked turbot. Delicious meat specialities also figure on the menu; the wine cellar has an excellent selection of national wines.
